The petrified wood that we sell all comes from Indonesia. Here, about 50 to 75 million years ago, the conditions were such that petrified wood can be found. In principle, the petrified wood can be found everywhere in the ground.
In addition to Indonesia, there are also sites in Madagascar and Arizona (America), this petrified wood is about 225 million years old. Our petrified wood can therefore be called "young".

How does petrified wood get its color?

There is a lot of confusion about the color of petrified wood. Many people think that the color is caused by the type of wood that has become petrified, but this is not true. The colors are created by the combination of quartz with another mineral. Common colors of petrified wood are black, red and white/beige.
